Programs & Impact
We currently operate programs in 56 countries across all continents. Our largest programs are in India, Brazil, Nigeria, Philippines, and the United States, but we also support smaller initiatives in many other nations through local partner organizations.
We track multiple metrics including: number of individuals housed permanently, job placements, educational achievements, health improvements, and long-term stability. We conduct follow-up surveys 6 months and 2 years after program completion to ensure lasting change.
Our programs include emergency shelter, transitional housing, job training and placement, mental health support, addiction recovery, educational assistance, family reunification, and long-term case management. Programs are tailored to local needs and cultural contexts.
We work exclusively with local partner organizations who understand the cultural context, language, and specific needs of their communities. Our international staff receive extensive cultural training, and all programs are designed in collaboration with local leaders.
Our overall success rate is 89%, meaning 89% of program participants achieve stable housing and maintain it for at least two years. Success rates vary by program type and region, with our job training programs showing particularly strong outcomes at 94% employment retention.
Volunteering
No prior experience is required! We provide comprehensive training for all volunteers. Whether you're interested in direct service, administrative support, or specialized skills like counseling or job training, we'll prepare you for your role.
Time commitments vary by role. Some opportunities require just a few hours per month, while others (like street outreach) typically ask for 4-6 hours per week for at least 6 months. We also have one-time volunteer opportunities at events.
Yes! We offer international volunteer opportunities for experienced volunteers. These typically require a minimum 3-month commitment and include housing and local support. We also have virtual volunteering options that support our global programs remotely.
We require background checks for all volunteers working directly with vulnerable populations. We'll guide you through this process, and the cost is covered by the foundation. Background checks typically take 1-2 weeks to complete.
All volunteers receive initial training, ongoing supervision, access to counseling services, regular appreciation events, and opportunities for skill development. We also provide transportation reimbursement for direct service volunteers.
Transparency & Accountability
We provide detailed impact reports to all donors, showing exactly how funds were used and the outcomes achieved. Major donors receive personalized reports, and all donors can access our annual transparency report and financial statements online.
Yes, we maintain a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and are accredited by the Better Business Bureau. We also undergo annual independent audits, and all financial information is publicly available on our website and through GuideStar.
We have strict financial controls including segregation of duties, regular audits, board oversight, and real-time financial monitoring. All expenditures over $1,000 require multiple approvals, and we conduct surprise audits of field operations.
We encourage donor visits and organize regular 'impact tours' to our program sites. These visits must be arranged in advance for safety and privacy reasons, but we're always excited to show supporters our work in action.
We take all concerns seriously and have a formal complaint process. You can contact our ombudsman directly at concerns@beggarsfoundation.org or call our confidential hotline. All complaints are investigated within 30 days with a written response.
